fake iranian legionary ILDU

Beware! Disinformation.

Various media outlets published reports that Iranian journalist Kurosh Sekhati had joined the International Legions for Defense of Ukraine. Most of the reports stated that Kurosh Sekhati was “fighting at the front” and “undergoing professional military training” with a unit of one of the International Defense Legions of Ukraine.

This information is not true.

Kourosh Sehhati, who claims to be a journalist from Iran, did indeed apply to join one of the International Defense Legions of Ukraine.

All military personnel of the International Legions for Defense of Ukraine are members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, have the appropriate rights, duties and support. The conclusion of a contract for military service in one of the International Legions for Defense of Ukraine follows a certain procedure, which, in particular, includes verification of the legality of the candidate's stay in the territory of Ukraine, verification of the candidate's physical capabilities, knowledge, skills and special examination by authorized components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Only after that, a contract for military service is concluded and the foreign volunteer is sent to undergo basic military training.

The Command of the International Defense Legions of Ukraine informs that as of today, no contract for military service has been concluded with the person who submitted documents in the name of Kourosh Sehhati and claims to be a journalist from Iran. This person was not sent for training in the units of the International Legions for Defense of Ukraine, and did not undergo such training. Also, this person was not sent by the Command of the International Legions for Defense Ukraine to the area of hostilities, did not receive or perform any combat or other tasks from the Command of the International Legions for Defense of Ukraine.

The Command of the International Legion for Defense of Ukraine supports the desire of representatives of enslaved peoples to fight against terrorist totalitarian regimes. At the same time, the fight for democratic values and freedom cannot be waged by means of lies, manipulation or disinformation.

The Command of the International Legions for Defense of Ukraine calls on media representatives to be careful in fact-checking. The Media Relations Group of the International Legions for Defense of Ukraine is ready to assist media representatives in the quality performance of editorial tasks, in particular, in verifying questionable information regarding the International Legions for Defense of Ukraine, within the framework of the current legislation of Ukraine.
