How foreign volunteers from Colombia are trained

An instructor with the call sign “Hulk” explains how they practice combat in dense high-rise buildings, storming and clearing buildings.

He is convinced that continuous training and innovation on the battlefield is the way to victory.

The training in the empty, dilapidated multi-story building resembles the filming of a Hollywood action movie: silhouettes of soldiers with weapons appear in the empty window openings. Voices in Spanish and gunshots are heard. From time to time, the soldiers stop at the instructor's command and listen to comments, return to their original positions, and practice the exercise again.

The Hulk instructor has vast experience, notices shortcomings in advance and demands to repeat the action, taking into account the advice.

“We practice approaching the building, clearing the building, moving, and “cutting” corners with a change of hands. That is, we approach the right corner, the left corner, and enter in such a way that you can spot and hit the enemy before he does,” he explains.

Moving through the building, the soldiers quickly “cover” the corners and change hands on the pistol grip. Those in the next room do not see the threat until a shot is fired. This means that the enemy is destroyed before he can react to the soldiers' practiced actions.

“Hulk” praises the foreigners: they are motivated and responsible, always ready to learn new things, listen carefully to the instructor and perform tasks conscientiously.

“Some of them have experience of military service and participation in combat operations, but this experience is not enough for modern warfare, so you need to constantly learn. There has never been a war like this before, and no one has ever had such experience before,” the soldier says.

What weapons do Colombians use on the battlefield?

The most popular weapon used by Colombian volunteers practicing assault and building clearing is the CZ BREN 2 assault rifle, which has proven itself to be a very good weapon. Working with the BREN 2 is much easier and more convenient than with the AK-74. A high degree of modularity allows the rifle to be quickly adapted to a specific soldier and task.

“BREN 2 is a great rifle. We have had it in the Legion since last year, and it has already proven to be extremely reliable and accurate. We have never had any problems with it - no delays, no jams. Compared to the AK-74, it is like a 2020 Mercedes compared to a 1970s Zhiguli,” the instructor jokes.

Some of the soldiers have additional front grips, sights, and silencers. The BREN 2 makes it easy to implement this, which makes the assault rifle even more convenient.

As for combat tactics, the instructor said that only in the last year infantrymen's actions in urban areas have changed dramatically due to the proliferation of drone bombers and FPV drones.
