My wife Yuliya is from Kyiv and she has relatives in Kharkiv and Kupiansk. Although I am older than the guidelines (I am 62 years old) my substantial military skills and experience, combined with my high level of fitness should make me eligible for my age to be overlooked. I look 20 years younger than my age and I am fitter than most men 20 years younger than me because I still train hard several times every week. In the British Army we have something called an age waiver, which a soldier can apply for, in order to continue serving when they are older than the age guideline. And if they pass the fitness test they can continue serving in the Army. I am requesting an age waiver to join the Ukrainian army. If you accept my application, before joining any frontline unit I would obviously need some refresher training with new recruits, and at this time my physical fitness could be assessed and compared with the other new recruits.
