I served in the Republic of Korea Army as an infantryman for 21 months, from 2016 to 2017. I was stationed along the front-line Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) where I participated in various operations. My primary duty was serving at a Guard Post (GP) inside the DMZ and monitoring North Korean military activity. In addition to standard-issue individual weapons, I operated several crew-served weapons, including the M2 Browning heavy machine gun and the Mk 19 automatic grenade launcher. I served as a grenadier for approximately one year and as a squad leader for the remainder of my service. I have continued to maintain my cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance through regular training, so I do not expect my physical condition to be an issue when serving as an infantryman in Ukraine. However, my English is not yet very strong. I can handle basic communication and generally understand spoken English, but speaking is still my weakest area. Despite this, I continue to study and practice regularly to improve my communication skills.

I am a citizen of Myanmar. I left Myanmar because of the ongoing armed conflict and the serious risk to civilians. The Myanmar military continues to carry out frequent airstrikes in areas where civilians live, including attacks using Russian-made military aircraft. Civilians, including women and children, have been killed and injured in these attacks. I arrived in Thailand in December 2022 and worked there until June 2025. I then traveled from Thailand to South Korea, where I am currently seeking asylum because I cannot safely return to Myanmar. I fear persecution and punishment by the Myanmar military authorities because of my opposition to them. My Myanmar passport expired in May 2026, and I have been unable to renew it through the Myanmar Embassy in South Korea. I have never served in the regular Myanmar military. However, I previously completed basic military training with an ethnic armed organization in Myanmar that is fighting against the Myanmar military. Although I have no formal military service experience, I have received basic training in military discipline and field skills. I understand that serving in the armed forces is physically and mentally demanding. I am prepared to work hard, follow orders, learn new skills, and endure difficult conditions. I want to stand on the side of people defending their freedom and sovereignty. If I am legally eligible and accepted, I would like to volunteer to serve Ukraine and contribute to its defense. My English is currently at a basic level, but I am actively studying and improving it.
